John Hagee

John Hagee began his career as a prosperity- preaching mega-church impresario as a minister licensed by the heretic organization the Assembly of God in 1966 at the helm of Trinity Church. He resigned his pastorate and was booted out of the Assembly of God in 1975 when his adulterous affair with a young member of the congregation came to light. He was divorced from his first wife, Marthe Downing, who was granted custody of their two children, Christopher and Tish. This left him free to take up with his modern day Jezebel, Diane M. Castro, whom he married in 1976. The issue of this unbiblical union were three children: Christina, Matthew and Sandy.

In 1987, Hagee went on to lead a 15 member congregation in San Antonio, which became the 20,000 member Cornerstone Church, in direct violation of the following verses:

1 Corinthians 9:27 “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

1 John 2 “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”

Ephesians 5:3 “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”

1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; – 4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) – 9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. – 11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

Spewing his revisionist theology from the pulpit of this big box church, Hagee is seen on many outlets, not least of which is TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network), founded by Luciferians (the late)Paul and Jan Crouch.

Hagee is a committed prosperity preacher and a promoter of the false doctrine of positive confession/word-faith theology, (i.e. speaking wishes into reality using magical thinking and self-empowerment). The following are Hagee’s own words:

“When you give to God, He controls your income. There’s no such thing as a fixed income in the Kingdom of God. Your income is controlled by your giving.”

“God created a universe where it is impossible to receive without giving. Everything that God controls, gives. . . . Givers gain. You do not qualify for God’s abundance until you give.”

“There is a relationship between your soul and physical and financial prosperity.”

This emcee of false doctrine waddles about on his enormous stage bleating on and on about the most egregious deceptions in direct contradiction of the established Word. Lest we forget just where Jesus stood on the issues of wealth and prosperity, let us review:

Luke 6:20, 24: Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. . . . But woe to you who are rich . . .”

James 2:5 “. . . did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?”

1 Timothy 6:17-19 “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed”

Hagee is also personally responsible for the damnation of thousands of Jews by virtue of his propagation of the ‘Salvation without Conversion’ theory. His tireless efforts in this arena are recognized as praiseworthy by unconverted Jews the world over and spread as doctrine by his congregation of mislead Christians, many of whom must examine their own salvation status before it’s too late.

“Here is my position on the Jewish people… Fact One: God has not cast away the Jewish people. Fact Two: According to Romans 11:5 there are Jewish people (‘a remnant’) who have a spiritual relationship with God at this present time… according to ‘the election of grace.” Letter to Erwin M. de Castro, Oct. 18, 1994.

“I believe that every Jewish person who lives in the light of the Torah, which is the word of God, has a relationship with God and will come to redemption” Houston Chronicle, April 30, 1988

“I’m not trying to convert the Jewish people to the Christian faith… In fact, trying to convert Jews is a waste of time. Jews already have a covenant with God and that has never been replaced by Christianity.” Houston Chronicle, April 30, 1988

Dr. John MacArthur said it best: An individual Jew today is saved like anybody else is, by faith in Christ. And, apart from that, there is no salvation.”

As a Christian, I am at odds with those who would question a man’s relationship with God, unless that man, by virtue of his position in society, whether sought ot unsought, could lead to people forsaking their salvation. The heretic Hagee is one of those men.

Hagee is also on record as stating that Jesus was not the Messiah:

“I’m delighted to present my latest book, In Defense Of Israel. … It scripturally proves that the Jewish people as a whole did not reject Jesus as Messiah. … Since Jesus refused by word and deed to claim to be the Messiah, how can the Jews be blamed for rejecting what was never offered? …”

Well, I am here to say that Hagee is less a man of God than Judas, who at least realized his sin and arguably repented. This is what the Word has to say on men such as Hagee:

1John 4:3 “Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ (Messiah) is come in the flesh is not of God”.

1 John 5:6 “This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ (Messiah); not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth”.

     Jesus absolutely claimed divinity:

John 4:25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

There is much more on the internet and I encourage you, the reader, to spend some time reading up on this towering example of heresy and false teaching.

Thanks God that in his mercy sent his only begotten Son to save us and love us. He didn’t came to judge us. Satan point us with his finger, he reminde me all the time saying “You! are liar, adulter, idolater, lazy, gossiper, unwordy etc, etc, etc. and I reminde him that there is no hope for him, but for those who are in Christ there is hope. If Jesus Son of God came to save us who are we to judge each other ? And let people that have give their life to the Lord get apart and lose their souls for comments like these? Brother check your eye first, stop attacking a men used by God. What do you think of King David, did God scorned him after so many adulteries.

    • Sister Lucy,

I appreciate your comment, but allow me to point a few things out, in Christian Love.

First, this is a discernment ministry. We are charged to follow the following commands of scripture:

Ephesians 5:11 ‘And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove (expose) them.’

Hagee specifically denies that Jesus is the Messiah and preaches that the Jews need not be converted to Christianity. These two things alone align him with the Adversary. As such, he must be exposed.

As far as judging others, I offer the following: “Paul told the Christians in Rome not to judge one another (Rom. 14:13) but taught the Corinthians that they were to judge sinful believers and leave people outside the church to God (1 Cor. 5:12-13). James said he who judges his brother speaks against the law (4:11) but also implied that our judgments of others must be done with mercy (2:12-13).” – http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2001/october1/29.70.html

“Common sense suggests that if no one ever judged other people, there would be no real human community. In a sinful world, no community can exist for long where nobody is ever held accountable: no teacher would grade a student’s performance; no citizen would sit on a jury or call a failed leader to account. And, when you come to think of it, nobody would ever forgive anyone for wrongs he had done; we only forgive people for what we blame them, and we blame them only after we have judged them.” – Ibid.

“Jesus may have been moved to speak as he did by the haughty way the Pharisees had of judging people. In Matthew 5:20 through 7:6, Jesus warns his disciples against following the traditions and practices of the Pharisees, who judged others as if they themselves were beyond judgment. What’s more, they judged people by the letter, not the spirit, of the law.

So, most likely, Jesus meant, “Do not judge at all if you judge others the way the Pharisees do. If you do judge people this way, you will be judged with the same severity.” Jesus’ intent comes out in his metaphor of motes and beams (Matt. 7:3-5). We all have beams in our eyes, so to speak; to judge people for the little motes stuck in their eyes while we have big beams in our own is devilish arrogance as well as folly.” – Ibid.

1 Corinthians 6:2-3 – “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?”

As far as King David, who wrote many of the Psalms, he was well aware that he had sinned mightily against God and spent the remainder of his life in repentance (he stopped his sinful behavior), continually praying for forgiveness and extolling the mercy of God. Hagee has yet to publicly admit his heresy and to refrain from it.

Psalm 43:1 – “Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.”
Psalm 54:1 – “Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.
Psalm 51:1-15 = 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my
      transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou
      judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

Christians should not hold each other accountable for those sins committed prior to Salvation. However, we are to be held to that which we do in the sight of God and man once we have been Saved. Only God can judge a man’s heart. Christians are called to judge his words and actions.

When an atheist tells me God Does not exist, I judge him as unsaved and witness to him. When someone who calls himself a Christian tells me that Jesus is not the Messiah, I judge him as a false teacher and expose his lies to those to whom he would proselytize.

May God bless you and keep you, may Jesus dwell in your heart and may the Holy Spirit guide you in the paths of righteousness.

      Your Brother in Christ,
      James S. Berge

Thanks for that comment. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory Of God. We are the redeemed and the righteousness of God through the blood of Jesus. No one has the right to judge any servant of the Most High. John Hagee has been a blessing to me. Listening to him makes me more aware of the return of the Lord and the need to spread the good news.

T.D. Jakes, Hal Lindsay, Joseph Prince and John Hagee? All false prophets? And you call yourself a “discernment ministry”. I am sure that if someone probed into your life and your past, they could distort some words you have said to “prove” you too are a heretic and false prophet. Come on church. The end is near and we should be supporting our brothers and sisters not trying to find ways to destroy each other.

    • Ms. Kennedy,

Thank you for your comment, it is hoped that people coming to this website take the time to read through it, as surely you must have.

Then you also came across the multiple statements that these profiles ONLY focus on an analysis of the theology and ministry of those profiled from the point of Salvation onward. In no way is the pre-saved condition of anyone examined as a part of the conditional analysis, unless it is in a positive way to illustrate the power of Christ to save anyone, in any condition and bring them to repentance.

To make it clear, whatever a person did before they became saved is none of our business, nor does it have a place in a true discernment profile.

However, I think you would agree that those claiming Salvation and following Christ, that have an influence on large numbers of people and how those people view our Savior and His Gospel message, have to be held to the criteria set forth by our Savior and His Disciples.

In Deuteronomy 18:22; ‘When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word which the LORD has not spoken’. Therefore, if a person calls themselves a prophet and they prophesy untruths, and people choose to follow them and forsake their Salvation, shouldn’t someone come up and warn people that this is a false prophet?

Yes, Matthew 7:15 ‘Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.’ How, other than discernment, can this be done?

If you are traveling a road and I know the bridge is out, and do not warn you, isn’t your fate in my hands? Is it not my responsibility to warn you that the bridge is out and to get off the road you’re on and get to one of safety? By your analysis of this ministry, I should keep it to myself and let you figure it out on your own.

1 Timothy 4:1 ‘some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.’

Romans 16:17 ‘Keep your eye on those who cause dissensions & hindrances (Greek = “occasions of stumbling”) contrary to the teaching, and turn away from them.’

Finally, I do not judge the status of one’s Salvation, I judge the behavior of one who claims to be saved, as we are commanded to do by the men who wrote the Bible:

1 Corinthians 5:11 “But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.”

      Your Brother in Christ,
      James S. Berge

      Numbers 6:24-26
(May) The Lord Bless you and keep you,
(May) The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you,
(May) The Lord life up His countenance unto you and give you peace.

His teaching on marriage and women is very misogynistic in nature
He stereotypes women as an insult. as an insult
he stereotypes and puts people in a box according to gender “roles ”
Instead of teaching freedom according to our gifts like Jesus did

Shame on you!

All of the profiles on this site and in my book ‘Ravening Wolves’ were derived from careful analysis of the subject’s own television broadcasts, radio programs, interviews, and writing. Other sources included public records such as birth, death, marriage, and legal. Direct quotes are cited as such.

We test the ‘spirits’ by what they say and do. The heart of a man is God’s domain and the judgement thereof is strictly His.

Thank you for your prayers for my repentance.

My prayer for you is that God gives you a spirit of truth and discernment.

      God Bless you.

It’s sad that those that say they are Christians spend so much time tearing each other apart.
Just reading the above I have to believe the devil is smiling. I choose no side in this battle.
I m 63 one thing I have learned in these years, if you put your faith in Man, Man will disappoint you at some point. Those that point the finger at their brother will in time face
The same . Men / women will make mistakes ……I trust we all spend as much time praying for one Another as we do pointing out their failure. Bless you all …. ..the enemy loves to
Stir up a fight and set back. The truth is many innocent will be harmed. Better a mill stone

Greetings to you and your house in the Name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

I appreciate your sentiment, but this is a discernment ministry. The disciples and early Christians made no small effort to warn people of the evil intentions of those who would ‘preach another gospel’.

Contrary to your assessment of the mirth of Satan, the Adversary is, I am sure, not so happy with people such as myself who expose corruption, lies, falsehood and mendacity so endemic in what passes for ‘the church’ today.

John Hagee is not an innocent small-town preacher earnestly winning souls. He is a mega-church pastor enriching himself using fear, ignorance, and some truth mixed in with his own branded message to bring people to HIM, not to CHRIST.

It is my prayer that John Hagee repent of this and turn to Christ. He could be a great messenger of the Truth were he to use his talents for Christ, and not for his own gain.

Peter and Paul were not rich, (Acts 3:6 “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”) they did not build great monumental halls for the thousands who would hear them ‘preach’. They traveled to the unbeliever and witnessed to them. In their homes did they hold services for the already converted. They relied on the kindness of Brothers and Sisters for help in going from church to church.

These were great men whose example, I am afraid, is hardly found in the world today.

I remain your Brother in Christ,

      James S. Berge

Dear brother Berge,,you are absolutely right in exposing these ministries…I’ve been a follower of my Lord for 30 years,.and my Bible says the same as yours. It’s sad that some Christians put more trust in (man) than what God says in His word…keep doing what God wants of you, and you will reap your reward…God bless.
