Perry Stone, Jr.

Born June 28, 1958, Perry F. Stone, Jr. is a fourth-generation charismatic, ecumenist preacher, the son of Perry ‘Fred’ Stone, Sr.

At the age of 16, Stone preached his first sermon. In 1985 he founded Voice of Evangelism (VOE) Outreach Ministries. Headquartered in Cleveland, Stone’s organization is a multi-million dollar ($11 million in donations in 2011;, ‘Million-dollar ministry: How Cleveland evangelist Perry Stone built a ministry empire’, by Shelly Bradbury, October 27th, 2013) international media empire that rakes in millions in donations and profits from the sales of his books, DVD’s and trinkets such as aprons, communion kits and (specially anointed by God) prayer cloths that he promises will bring the user untold blessings and healing.

Stone unashamedly lays claim to 80,000 (eighty thousand) hours (nearly 10 years) of uninterrupted Bible study.

The Stone family is composed of Perry, wife Pam (married in 1982) and two children, daughter Amanda and son Jonathan. They reside in a 6,100 sq ft house in Cleveland, a residence arguably larger than the vast majority of the domiciles of his followers, whose donations fund his lavish lifestyle. Stone drew a $104,115 salary in 2011 and gets around in a twin-engine plane owned by the ‘ministry’. While he doesn’t charge a fee from the churches at which he makes appearances, he does solicit ‘travel expense’ reimbursement and takes up a ‘collection’, which he keeps and, he says, turns over to the VOE ministry.

Manna-Fest, his seminal broadcasting effort, is televised on the heretical TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) and is regularly filmed in Israel. Seen on 84 stations in 249 countries, his programs are seeding the world with messages gleaned from a false gospel.

Stone espouses the most banal, and damaging, of heresies:

Lordship Salvation:

Stone undermines the Atonement of the Cross by teaching Lordship Salvation, that unless Christ is in command of every aspect of your life, you cannot be saved. Stone states in his version of the Sinners Prayer “I now ask Jesus to come into my heart. Be my Savior. Be my Lord. Be my soon coming King. I will do my best to obey yoI ur teachings as recorded in the Bible.” (

Personal to Perry Stone: I thought that believing in the life, death and Resurrection of Christ was sufficient for Salvation, that of Grace, not works, lest any man boast. Once one is saved, repentance and forgiveness ensue and one’s character changes through the urging of the Holy Spirit. We change from the ‘old man’ to the new. Our actions and works come as a result of Salvation, not in hope of it. By faith we are saved, and if truly converted, we begin to emulate the Christ like nature that comes as a result of Salvation.

Perry’s father Fred relates an encounter he says he had with the disembodied spirit of a friend, Al Collins, during a moment of prayer in a cabin in the mountains of West Virginia. Fred says that this spirit of his dead friend commanded him to take up a life of preaching.

Fred also relates an out of body experience in which he says the Holy Spirit took him to God’s library in Heaven and he saw a book called the ‘Mighty Acts and Works of Jesus’, a three foot tall tome which he says he took from the shelf and within which read additions to the Sermon on the Mount that are not included in the Bible. He also says that when Perry preaches, the Holy Spirit puts the words of Jesus in his mouth. (You Tube – ‘Has Perry Stone Repented of Necromancy?’)

Perry enthusiastically endorses his father’s claims of speaking to the dead and considers it to be well within the realm of Heavenly revelation.

‘Perry Stone teaches that tongues are the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He is a charismatic and his Voice of Evangelism ministry subscribes to the statement of faith of the “Church of God” denomination, which states, “We believe…in speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost.”[5]’; (from ‘Perry Stone’ By Dane Gardow,

Perry speaks in tongues on many occasions, but a specific broadcast of his Manna-Fest program included T.L. Lowery and Ron Phillips, two renowned tongue-speakers. By misrepresenting the meaning and context of Romans 8:26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose’. and John 3:5 ‘Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God’., as well as creatively translating Biblical Greek, Perry and his co-conspirators justify and explain the inane babblings which emanate from the mouths of false teachers everywhere. – (You Tube – ‘Perry Stone Speaking in Tongues’)

Modern day tongue-speaking, or ‘evidential tongues’ is a hallmark of false teaching and is a language of the fallen. Do not be deceived, speaking in tongues was a gift of the Spirit to the Apostles during the first era of the church. Every tongue spoken was a terrestrial one, foreign to the Apostle but clearly understood by the native speakers to whom the apostles were preaching.

False Prophecy:

‘Perry Stone claims to be a prophet who sees visions from God. He claims that he has supposedly prophesied of various events accurately before they came to pass, a few of which include “Governor Bush becoming President; the 9-11 vision of the towers, and more recently the Oil Rig off the coast of Louisiana.”[3] He testifies that he receives such visitations from the Lord Himself: “During every visitation I have at some point shared with you what I have seen, long before it came to pass, which gave credence that the word was from the Lord.”[4]’; (from ‘Perry Stone’ By Dane Gardow,

“In April 1998, I had an unusual spiritual experience in the early hours of the morning. As I was coming out a deep sleep, I was aware I was lying in bed beside my wife. Suddenly I heard a voice say, ‘It is My will for the Governor of Texas to be the next President of the United States.’ I leaped out of the bed and awoke my wife saying, ‘You won’t believe what just happened! I just heard a voice speaking to me.’ I repeated the words to her and she smiled, said a few words, and went back to sleep. I dressed and went into my office to tell my office manager about the incident. We checked the Internet to confirm that George W. Bush was the Governor of Texas. I told my office manager, ‘This is the man who is supposed to be the next president.’ I felt odd talking about the incident since no one, not even Governor Bush, had announced his run for the presidency. While I said nothing publicly, I confided only in a few close friends and family members. I experienced the same inner inspiration that I had when the word came to me in 1992 concerning the spirit that would come upon the nation. An unexpected event in Israel seven months later confirmed to me that the word from God was accurate.”; Perry Stone, ‘Plucking the Eagle’s Wings’, 2001, pp. 233-235.

False Teaching:

“God does not control your blessing, you do.” This seems to hold God and His Will in the control of the believer, the direct opposite of Biblical teaching.

Stone is also a peddler of cheap magic. In his book and video “The Meal That Heals”, he outlines the following magical recipe of spells and incantations to receive divine healing:

“Through a daily, personal Communion service with God — right in your own home — you can experience spiritual renewal and physical healing in your life.”

“When taking communion—I suggest you take a whole cracker—look at it and begin to thank Jesus for healing your body. Tell Him you are taking this as heavenly medicine for your body. Thank Him that His body was broken so you could be whole. He was torn up so you could be well. He carried pain and death in His body so you and I could be free of pain, free of cancer, free of blood disorders, free of bone diseases, etc. Then break that cracker. Realizing that it was because of our sin that His body was broken, it was for our healing that stripes were laid on His back—His body was given to us—for our healing. Don’t just discern the blood—Jesus commanded us to discern His body also! Partake of His flesh! (John 6:53-58) Sound too gross for you? It did to His disciples also, and many left Him that day because of that saying. Will you? Will you choose to ignore His words and not lay claim to the price He paid for you and me in His body?

How do we appropriate it? This is the awesome part. Get some grape juice or wine, which ever you prefer to use and keep it in stock along with crackers. Begin to make it a daily routine in your life to just take a few minutes and take communion. Each time you do, not only consecrate yourself to Him, but look at that cracker, break it and lay claim to what Jesus gave His body for—for your healing, for your soundness and peace of mind, for your total well being. Take it as daily medicine!! How many of you take medicine daily? I would go so far as to suggest that every time you have to take your medicine, take God’s medicine along with it! Give God equal time and opportunity! The great thing about this is, I don’t have to have total faith for instant healing—I have faith in what Jesus did for me in His body—faith enough to appropriate it personally, on a regular basis. I can know in doing this that each time I do it, I’m getting a little more well, healing is coming into my body, from God Himself, every time I lay claim to His body—-my manna from heaven!”

I would like to remind Brother Perry that we followers of Christ are commanded by our Saviour to partake of communion thusly; 1 Corinthians 11:24 ‘And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. 27  whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

Not sure where eliciting favors of healing from God fits in there. Though God can, and does heal, there are no guarantees and to expect, rather than ask God for healing will invariably lead to disappointment.

Acts 20:28 ‘Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.’

Whatever is born of God overcomes the world! Pls let this man alone. If what he is doing is wrong(which I doubt o!) it shall crash someday. God said the battle is mine. So please allow God fight this one. I don’t think God needs ur help in this matter. I believe you should get busy praying for the truth to emerge.

Perry’s salary is determined by the board members of his ministry(Chattanooga Times article for FACTS instead of a brother bashing opinion). I don’t believe in God but I know genuine when I see it and you sir are the reason that folks want nothing to do with Christians

  4. It baffles me that people can’t see thru this blind veil to the truth…all the red flags are there! I mean c’mon, a 6100 sq ft home?? buying into all these lies! The offerings are for the flock which is to be served by the overseers, yet it is the flock who have become slaves to the false teachers of our day like Stone! We have rec’vd our great reward which is what Christ accomplished at Calvary, yet humans will make devise fantasy and paint a portrait of whatever they can drum in their depraved minds to cast the spotlight onto them and take if off of Jesus!…There is such a cloud, a blanket of deceit over the land…My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…These wolves are fooling you! Christianity does not guarantee a posh/lavish/comforting lifestyle, quite the contrary! It is a life of sacrifice and self-denial…is that what Stone and the many false one’s like him are demonstrating and living out? Well, NO…This is a warning to those courageous enough to walk away from all this ridiculous religiosity and come to the fullness of God’s truth’s…It might mean you’ll be standing alone, it might even mean you will lose everything…but it will mean you are the richest bc there is truth in your 6100 sq ft heart for God to work and for Him to be glorified!

It baffles me that most of the ministries I like are put down by this website. I don’t support you so you’ll get no income from me. It’s haters like you and this web who are deceived and deceive. I pray that God shows you the truth in all things in Jesus name.

You’re an idiot. This man is a true man of God. If he weren’t you wouldn’t be critiquing him. I truly love perry stone in the lord. You are such an idiot. How much money did you give. Oh nothing. Then you have nothing to complain about. Wow I live in a 4400 square foot house and I’m surely not rich but blessed. I support Perry stone ministries because I want to. He puts everything back into the ministry. Yo he’s debt free. He practices what he preaches. Good for you I think I’ll double my giving to voe.

I have to question the source of your obvious hate for Perry Stone. I believe the man speaks truth. Why is it that when a Christian builds wealth, they become under the worlds microscope! We’ll, The Lord rebukes you satan and your demons for trying to tear down a man of God. Why are you so hateful towards him? Could it be SATAN, hmmm?

I had to laugh every time i read one of your reasons for doubting, and putting Perry Stone down, i could not see any substance, or truth that made sense to me of what you were even talking about, to put this man down. I see no fault in Perry Stone, and you probably have no idea how hard he works to be the minister of God to the people the way he is. And besides he is not given a million dollar a year salary, but 104, 000 dollars, that’s not exactly becoming a millionaire. The bible does say the laboror is worthy of his hire. So i will let God be the judge of this. And Jesus said we would know them by their fruit, well he has good fruit, he is not caught up in scandal, or anything bad, so what’t the problem with him ? And a lot of the stuff you dispute is it is because is against your type of theology. Hey, there is much more to God, and His Word than a lot of people understand, or allow, don’t put God in your box, He is not there.

    • you made me think of where there were those who was preaching Jesus but not following and Jesus said to leave them alone cause if they weren’t against him they were for him. i believe perry stone is a man of God and annointed preacher of his word. the real preachers are always picked on. and we are human and may not get everything right but if we ain’t against him we are for him. 🙂

  9. Lover of Jesus

You think you’re God. A bible scholar? Why try to destroy a lover of God with an evil tongue? Any christian knows that’s sin. You slander a brother in Christ. You have taken truths out of context. Money isn’t evil. The love of money is evil. Maybe God loves and blesses Perry? And many others with the message of hope, THE GOOD NEWS!. You are accountable, and will be for every word you have ever written. Me too. And our soul NEVER dies. So maybe you should just shut up. And quit digging yourself a deeper hole. Literally dummy.

  10. Ginny Sapp

So you’re stating that if a minister lives in a 6,000 plus sq. ft. home, he can’t be of God? That’s ridiculous. Is there a sq. ft. pastoral limit in the Bible? Haven’t seen that scripture. This entire article is hogwash and whoever the author really is, is leading people astray. Perry Stone is anointed of God and has helped many, many people come to know God, whereas you, my cowardly friend, didn’t even sign your name to this article but hide behind the Tarry Not Ministry label. Be ashamed. You, sir, are the evil one.

I have watched many is Perry’s sermons and have never heard him state on fact that was not found in the bible, A prophet is proven by his prophesy and he has foretold many things that came to pass. He does not compromise +biblical truths. He is a wonderful teacher and I believe a great man of God. The only other tv evangelist I watch is Robert Morris. I believe both are men of integrity. The body of Christ needs to unify and ready the bride for his rapture. Critizing him is not the Godly thing to do. He is not Kenneth copeland, Joel Osteen or Benny Hinn. Do not group him with those people.thank you.

  12. HughG

He does not have a jet. You are a liar. He has a twin prop airplane. Your research and blatant falsehoods are dispecable. John, I know. Peter I know. Perry Stone I know. Who the hell are you?

You just quoted a demon AND put Perry Stone’s name in place of Jesus’ name in that scripture…. wow.

I have had the blessing of being a part of multiple services with Perry Stone. I have eaten meals with him and have followed his ministry over the past 14 years. Perry Stone is not a false prophet he is a Man of God. Be careful when you rise up in judgement of the men God is using to bring revival to our nation. Who are you to be the judge of ministries. This website is a joke! This is not a ministry! Satan is the accuser of the therebetween and you are doing his job for him.

  14. George Moberly

They are doing Perry Stone sermons at the Church I attend in Az. Excuse me but I usually walk out within minutes. Talk about bragging and patting one self on the back he does it all. He seems to always gravitate to the false doctrine of a pre Tribulation Rapture sooner or later. It seems that those that espose this false teaching are Masters at twisting the scriptures and ignoring what the Lord Jesus Christ himself said about his return. Although I do not agree with all that was said in this article for the most part Mr Stone got what he deserved. God Bless you all search out the truth and test the spirits always. George. Moberly
